Study: Genes and social life affect politics

Does genetics play a role in determining your political leanings? Scientists at UC San Diego and Harvard say yes.

Their research finds a person's political preferences are affected by two things: First a gene called DRD4, second social factors. Those that have the DRD4 gene and have an active social life -- are more likely to be liberals.

Researchers say this is true regardless of ethnicity, culture, sex or age.
