On Tuesday, San Francisco supervisors will take a big step towards choosing an interim mayor.

Current Mayor Gavin Newsom will vacate the seat in January after winning the race for lieutenant governor last Tuesday.

Board of Supervisors President David Chiu says he will introduce an ordinance that would outline the process for selecting an interim mayor.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, State Senator Mark Leno is among those expressing interest in the post.
