The woman was at work shortly after 7 a.m. when she saw a man breaking into her car, which was parked in a lot behind 56 Mayhew Way, police said.
She immediately called police for help.
When officers arrived, they caught Jerry McMahon as he was allegedly trying to force entry into the victim's car, a green Honda sport utility vehicle.
McMahon was arrested and booked into county jail in Martinez.
