Living rooms as polarized as Congress

Apparently our living rooms are as polarized as our Congress. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Republicans are more likely than Democrats to watch the biggest hit shows on television.

"Modern Family," a seemingly liberal show about a blended family with a gay couple and adopted kids was third favorite show for Republicans.

Democrats voted "Dexter" as their third favorite. The show is about a police analyst who moonlights as a serial killer.

"The Hollywood Reporter" says conservatives strongly favor reality competition shows, while liberals tend to favor shows that get critical acclaim, but struggle for mass appeal.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the number one show for Republicans is "Glenn Beck" and "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" for Democrats.

Here's a look at the top five TV shows for both sides of the aisle:

    Glenn Beck
    Amazing Race
    Modern Family
    American Idol

    Countdown With Keith Olbermann
    Mad Men
