One dead after fishing boat capsizes

SONOMA COUNTY, Calif.

The occupants of another fishing boat in the area pulled the five victims - four men and one woman - from the water and called the Coast Guard, Lt. Simone Mausz said.

The Coast Guard dispatched a 47-foot vessel, which escorted the second fishing boat to the Coast Guard's station in Bodega Bay, Mausz said.

The 60-year-old man was pronounced dead, Mausz said.

Another man who was on the capsized boat was taken to Palm Drive Hospital in Sebastopol and a third man was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Rosa, Bodega Bay Fire Capt. Jason Downing said.

The other two people on the boat, a man and a woman, were released, Downing said.

The occupants of the boat that capsized are from the Sacramento area.

Mausz said the 21-foot recreational fishing boat capsized around 9:10 a.m. when a fishing line got caught in a propeller and the vessel was pushed over by waves.
