The South Bay will soon be without an organization that funds HIV programs.

The San Jose Mercury News reports the Silicon Valley AIDS Leadership Center will shut down by the end of the year because it has been unable to recover from the recession. The center's chairman says the loss of corporate sponsorships has been too much to overcome.

The board of directors has decided to liquidate all of its assets and redistribute them to local agencies focused on stopping the spread of HIV and those helping people with AIDS.
