Santa Clara Co. supes meet to consider cuts

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif.

The San Jose Mercury News reports the board is also deciding if it should pay out more than $5 million in vacation time that county executives and managers have already accrued.

Currently, top level executives and managers can carry over 117 days of earned vacation. Union leaders question paying a lump sum in the middle of a budget crisis. The board needs to trim more than $1 million from the county's budget.
