Firefighters responded to the single-alarm fire at 1067 Adason Drive at 1:43 p.m., according to spokeswoman Aisha Knowles.
An earlier report from the fire department that had the blaze at 1073 Adason Drive was incorrect, she said.
Smoke and flames from the fire were visible from the nearby BART tracks, she said.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 10 minutes, sparing the single-family home on the property, but the 40-by-60-foot garage was destroyed, Knowles said. No injuries were reported.
The fire's cause has not been determined, but it is not believed to be suspicious.
