The connector between northbound U.S. Highway 101 and northbound Interstate Highway 280 has been closed since just after midnight, when the CHP received reports of debris dangling from a sign over the slow lane.
CHP Officer Jonathan Short said it is unclear how the sign became damaged, but that it forced a closure of the roadway at 12:24 a.m., with a Sig-alert issued at 12:26 a.m.
Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route until after 7:45 a.m., when the CHP estimates that the roadway may reopen, although Short said that it could take crews longer than that to clear the roadway.
