The accident happened as he tried to question a man about a stolen wallet at a University Avenue gas station. The suspect got in his car and when the officer tried to stop him, the man accelerated back and forth, knocking the officer to the ground.
The driver sped off, but was chased, cornered, and arrested a few minutes later.
