The San Francisco Chronicle reports the podcast was part of a late night interview recorded back on Super Bowl Sunday. It included candid talk about Plummer's open marriage, players' sexual exploits and discussions about how the 49er's staff used to line up women for players.
The 49ers wouldn't comment on why Plummer was fired, but the former player says the interview and his critical comments about how the current team plays led to dismissal.
Plummer will be replaced by another former 49er Eric Davis.
