The Mount Diablo School Board in Concord meets tonight to consider laying off 180 teachers and other employees because of more looming deficits.

The Contra Costa Times reports that school officials may also approve borrowing $40 million to cover an anticipated budget shortfall in June caused by state funding deferrals. At the same time, they are also expected to approve $9 million to make improvements at six high schools. That money will come from a district measure approved by voters.
