Google wants self-driving cars on Nevada roads

The Mountain View-based tech giant is lobbying lawmakers in Carson City to pass bills legalizing the automated vehicles. Google says it has test driven the robotic hybrid cars more than 140,000 miles on California roads -- including twisty and mountainous Highway 1 between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Since the car drives itself without human input, Google is asking for an exemption that would allow occupants to text while sitting behind the wheel.
