Redwood City leaders consider asking voters to raise hotel tax

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.

If the city council approves it, the measure will go on the November 8th ballot where voters could pass it with a simple majority.

Hotel occupancy taxes tend to be popular with voters because the taxes are paid by out-of-town visitors.

The business license tax in Redwood City hasn't seen an increase since 1994. Voters soundly rejected the last attempt to raise it in November, 2009.
