The utility poles were taken down by a four-door Honda that plowed into them shortly after 2:00 a.m. Monday along Hillside Avenue.
Officers arrested Diego Reyes, 18, on suspicion of felony drunk driving. A 17-year-old passenger had minor injuries.
PG&E officials say the incident knocked out power and phone service to several homes.
