Technicians at San Francisco's Public Utilities Commission say a hacker apparently loaded numerous viruses onto a PUC server through an unsecured port. That port apparently gave outsiders access to a file containing customer names, account numbers, addresses and phone numbers, but no financial information.
The PUC says there's no evidence any information was stolen, but the agency has been notifying customers -- just in case.
