Chinese teen sells kidney for iPad 2

BEIJING, China

The 17-year-old, known only as "Little Jhong," told a local television station he saw an ad online offering cash to organ donors.

The teen exchanged his kidney for about $3,400, which he then used to buy the iPad 2 and a laptop computer.

He attempted to hide his exchange from his shocked mother.

"I asked him where all the money for that came from," Little Jhong's mother said. "When he couldn't keep it to himself any longer, he finally told us."

Little Jhong's mother said she "felt like the sky was crashing down on our family."

China banned organ trafficking four years ago, but a flourishing black market for organs still exists today. The government has started a voluntary organ donation system to try to fight black market trades.
