The Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA is hoping to find a home for one seriously fat cat. Murphy, a 6-year-old house cat, tips the scales at 30 pounds.

"He's a whole lot of cat," said PHS/SPCA spokesperson Scott Delucchi. "In fact, he's the largest domestic cat anyone can remember here and some staff go back 20 years."

Humane Society staff has already put Murphy on a diet and they would like to find him a home where he can keep working off the weight and get plenty of exercise.

Adoption hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m.-6 p.m .on weekends. Visitors are advised to arrive at least an hour before closing to complete an adoption.
