Schools may get more time to get kids vaccinated

A new state law requires all students entering seventh through 12th grades to be vaccinated against whooping cough for the upcoming school years. But there have been shortages of the vaccine.

Monday, a state Assembly committee approved a bill that would extend that deadline for one month after the first day of school.

The bill still must make several more steps before becoming a law.
