One Peninsula landlord is going to drastic and creative lengths to clamp down on dog poop.

Mary Michaels, manager of the Pinewood Apartments in Redwood City, says she's so sick of tenants not cleaning up after their pets, she's hiring a DNA-testing service to find the culprit canine.

First she has to collect DNA samples by swabbing tenants' dogs' cheeks. Michaels said owners who are caught will have to pay $60, the cost of the test, as a deterrent for future offenses.
