Cops nab driver with warrants on Highway 101

SANTA ROSA, Calif.

A CHP officer pulled over the man's Jaguar at around 5:15 p.m. as he exited southbound Highway 101 and headed toward downtown Santa Rosa.

The driver had been tailgating another car in the fast last for about half a mile before making an abrupt lane change and exiting the freeway, officials said.

The officer identified the driver as Daniel Running Bear Steele III, 36, of Santa Rosa. Two small children were in the backseat of the Jaguar when the officer stopped him.

The officer ran a check on Steele and learned that his license had been suspended for a DUI offense, and that Steele had six prior convictions for driving on a suspended license, according to the CHP.

CHP officials said Steele also had six active warrants out for his arrest for violating probation, driving with a suspended license and DUI. Steele was arrested and booked into Sonoma County.

The children were released to their grandmother, Steele's mother, officials said.
