Food stamps accepted at SF Farmers' Market

SAN FRANCISCO

The Heart of the City Farmers' Market in the Civic Center is reaching out to neighbors by offering healthy food options.

The market even takes CalFresh cards -- the new version of food stamps -- and organizers want to make sure everyone takes advantage of this program.

"We're surprised at how few who live in this neighborhood know they can use their food stamps here at the market to buy wholesome, fresh, locally produced fruits and vegetables from our farmers," said operations manager Kate Creps.

The Heart of the City Farmers' Market operates on Wednesdays and Sundays at the U.N. Plaza. This year they are celebrating their 30th anniversary.
