Mathilda Ave in Sunnyvale reopens to traffic

SUNNYVALE, Calif.

The big-rig crashed into a center median just south of U.S. Highway 101 at around 1:30 a.m., city spokesman John Pilger said.

The impact ruptured the big-rig's diesel tanks, and more than 100 gallons of diesel fuel and oil spilled onto the roadway.

Emergency officials responded to the scene and closed the road to traffic in both directions. A U.S. Highway 101 off-ramp leading to southbound Mathilda Avenue was also closed as responders cleaned up the spill, Pilger said.

No one was injured in the crash and no fuel leaked into any waterways. "It's about as benign as it can get," Pilger said.
