Burglary spree suspects arrested in Belmont

BELMONT, Calif.

Belmont and San Mateo police took Travis Castellanos, 21, of South San Francisco, and Jenna Montani, 20, of San Mateo, into custody on suspicion of various charges related to the thefts.

Detectives recovered dozens of stolen items including purses, wallets, cellphones and backpacks, Belmont police Capt. Dan DeSmidt said.

The pair is being held at San Mateo County Jail.

Castellanos' arrest is the third time in the past 18 months he has been taken in for theft and burglary in Belmont. He was booked and charged with felonies in his first two arrests, DeSmidt said.

He had recently been released from San Mateo County Jail after an arrest in May when Castellanos and another female accomplice allegedly stole property from several cars and led Belmont police on a car chase, ending in San Carlos when they crashed into the front of a house, DeSmidt said.
