Marin is now turning to cameras to help fight crime. The city has now installed a new high-tech security system, including eight cameras, at a cost of $65,000.

The cameras are posted above parking lots and above common areas and walkways in the Golden Gate Village housing complex. Officials say that is an area where there's been a significant increase in criminal activity.

City officials say there is no one monitoring the video to prevent crime, but now that police can review the video, they hope it will convince criminals to think twice before breaking the law.
