Man allegedly swung axe during argument

SAN LEANDRO

Police responded to a call of a man brandishing an axe in the 200 block of Santa Susana at 4:01 p.m.

When officers arrived, the victim told them that Charles Patton, 52, of Hayward had swung an axe at him several times and threatened to kill him, police said.

Patton had also picked up a rock and threatened him with it, the victim told police. Police said it appeared the two men were in a minor argument before the incident. No one was injured.

Police found Patton in a nearby residence and took him into custody, and recovered the axe at the scene. Patton was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
