A soldier badly injured in Afghanistan is received special treatment in Palo Alto. Sgt. Brian Jergens was carried off a plane at Moffett Field in front of an honor guard made up of members of the Northern California Patriot Guard Riders Monday night.

Jergens lost both legs when the humvee he was riding in hit a roadside bomb last month. Jergens has struggled in his recovery, but has been helped every step of the way by his young wife Jennifer, a Santa Clara native.

"He married his wife, I believe it was December 10, 2010, and a month later he deployed to Afghanistan. And this August is when he was injured. So they've only been married for a month before he was deployed," said James Brown, a Patriot Guard Rider.

Jergens was taken by ambulance to the VA Medical Center in Palo Alto, accompanied by a convoy of veterans.
