Muni officials are meeting with members of the California Public Utilities Commission in San Francisco to discuss a state investigation into the transit agency.

A report by the state PUC in February uncovered major safety issues on Muni's light rail system. They include problems with defective track, as well as tunnel control systems that operate poorly or not at all.

The meeting is expected to determine how Muni has made improvements. The state PUC has threatened Muni with fines of up to $20,000 a day if the problems are not addressed.
