Cost of heating homes to go up
SAN FRANCISCO The U.S. Department of Energy says prices are up for heating oil and natural gas.
Households using natural gas will pay about three percent more to heat their homes. Those with heating oil wills ee bills go up about eight percent, a record high.
"We project they'll be paying higher, spending more than ever," said Howard Gruenspecht with the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
While costs are going up, temperatures will too by an average of two percent. That alone should reduce consumption.
