Red flag warning issued for parts of Bay Area

The warning takes effect at 10 p.m. today and expires at 6 a.m. Thursday because of gusty offshore winds of up to 40 mph and low humidity following a warm and dry weekend, weather service officials said. The strongest winds are expected late tonight through midday Wednesday, especially across the East Bay hills. In the North Bay hills, fire danger warnings will be in place from tonight until Wednesday night.
