Santa Clara Co. supes to vote on styrofoam ban

Santa Clara county supervisors will vote today on a measure to ban styrofoam containers.

If approved, it would ban polystyrene containers from county facilities right away and from food businesses in un-incorporated areas by next summer. Similar bans already exist in 50 cities and counties statewide. Styrofoam is one of the biggest trash problems, and is hard to recycle. But opponents say alternatives are more expensive, and can still become litter.
