BART to swap out seats, add weekend bus service

The vinyl seats are more germ resistant and easier to clean. They do also cost less. Look for the new seats in April.

Also, the BART board is moving forward with plans to add late night, weekend bus service. The idea of running the trains past midnight has already been scrapped.

Weekend morning commuters gave the idea a thumbs down because it would have meant delaying their morning trains, because crews need a certain amount of time for maintenance between shifts. In feedback to BART through a survey, at least one person who rides in the morning said BART was putting the needs of drunks above the working man. But, using buses after midnight on weekends could be a win for both sides. The board has asked staff to come up with a proposal.
