Apple's design chief Jonathan Ive has been knighted in Britain for services to design and enterprise. He can now call himself Sir Jonathan.

Ive grew up near London. He says his silversmith father inspired him to become a designer. He's been working at Apple for 19 years.

Ive is credited with the look of iconic products like the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. Apple co-founder Steve Jobs describes him as a "spiritual partner" in a recent biography.
