Police release suspect sketch in assault, kidnapping

OAKLAND, Calif.

A 29-year-old woman was kidnapped at gunpoint and sexually assaulted in her car. She had been sitting in her car in the 2000 block of Sunnyside Avenue talking to a male friend, who was standing outside the car around 5:40 p.m., police said.

The suspect, a 20-year-old black man armed with a handgun, approached the male standing by the car and robbed him. The suspect then got into the woman's car and ordered her to drive away at gunpoint, police said.

The woman was forced to drive to an isolated area where the suspect sexually assaulted her, police said. The suspect then ran away.

Investigators have created a sketch of the suspect, who was described as standing between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing around 170 pounds. He was clean-shaven and had wavy short black hair. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and dark pants.

The Oakland Police Department and Oakland Crime Stoppers are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police Department's youth and family services division at (510) 238-3641 or an anonymous tip line at (510) 637-0298.
