Marin County farmers could face drought conditions

Marin County officials are on the verge of approving an emergency resolution saying county farmers face drought conditions, despite the torrential rains that fell in the area.

The heavy rain and runoff flowed through Lagunitas Creek last week. But it did not come soon enough. The board of supervisors is set to consider a report tomorrow that the lack of rain in January and February killed or stunted pasture forage that cows depend on.

The Marin Independent Journal reports declaring an emergency could ease grant subsidies or low interest loans for ranchers.
