Mattel to make Barbie for kids with cancer

SAN FRANCISCO

It started as a Facebook campaign and now the toy company will create a bald friend of Barbie starting next year. The doll will come with wigs, hats, scarves and other accessories to help children fighting cancer or other diseases who end up losing their hair.

The bald dolls won't be in stores; Mattel plans to give them directly to affected kids through the Children's Hospital Association.
