The disappearance of teenager Sierra LaMar is now sparking changes in how the Morgan Hill Unified School District will report student absences.

The district, which includes Sobrato High School, where Sierra was heading on the day she went missing, has started notifying parents in the morning when students don't show up.

Sierra's parents weren't notified that their daughter never made it to school until after 6 p.m. on March 16, nearly 12 hours after she disappeared.

Investigators believe Sierra was abducted.
