New vehicle registrations in California increased 17.7 percent from a year ago during the first quarter of 2012. California outpaced sales in the nation overall by more than 4 percent.
The California New Car Dealers Association says it appears new car sales are in full recovery.
Smaller fuel efficient vehicles are leading the way with new light vehicle registrations in California expected to reach nearly 1.5 million in 2012.
