Vets honor fallen Alameda soldier

A group of Vietnam veterans was at Oakland International Airport on Friday to receive the body of a U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Staff Sgt. Thomas Fogarty, 30, was killed by an explosive device south of Kabul over a week ago. His parents, wife and two sons were also at the airport to receive the casket.

The vets are part of a group of motorcycle riders who honor fallen U.S. soldiers.The motorcycle group escorted Fogarty's casket to the funeral home.

Governor Jerry Brown ordered the flag of the state Capitol to be flown at half-staff on Tuesday to honor the Alameda soldier.
