Sacramento deputies face federal weapons charges

Two Sacramento County sheriff's deputies face federal weapons charges for illegally selling guns that can only be owned by law enforcement officers.

Authorities have accused the two deputies of being "straw buyers" because they purchased the restricted handguns for the purpose of selling them at a profit.

The law allows those weapons to be sold, but only under certain conditions. The two deputies are accused of selling the weapons without a license to do so.

Daly City police say a man who barricaded himself in a home in February 2011 had two of the weapons sold by the deputies.
