The father of a 3-year-old boy shot and killed last august in Oakland is leading a community effort Saturday to stop future violence.

Carlos Nava, Sr. wants people to turn in their guns at Saturday's all-day community resource fair.

Oakland residents can turn in unloaded guns to authorities and receive community assistance at Plaza De La Fuente in the Fruitvale District.

The first 100 people turning in guns and showing proof that they live in Oakland will receive a $100 gift card to a Target or grocery store.
