William Lynch found not guilty in priest beating case

SAN JOSE, Calif.

Lynch was charged with felony assault and elder abuse for beating Father Jerry Lindner at a church retirement facility in Los Gatos in 2010. The prosecution previously admitted that Lindner molested Lynch in the 1970s.

The defense has argued for an acquittal, saying Lynch did not cause Lindner great bodily harm and furthermore that his actions were justified. The prosecution, which has admitted that Lindner did molest Lynch as a child, says vigilantism cannot be tolerated.
