RICHMOND, Calif. --
An incident at the Chevron refinery sent black smoke into the air this morning. Richmond fire confirms to ABC7 News that there was a flare up in the cracking unit at the refinery around 9:50 a.m., the burn off apparently sent black smoke into the air. Officials said there was no threat to the community. This comes on the heels of the massive fire at the same refinery on August 6, sending many to the hospital with health concerns. Since then, the refinery has been leaking hydro-carbons, but officials hope to have it stopped today. About 18,000 people have filed medical claims with chevron connected to that fire.
