Dog helps sniff out invasive mussels in Calif. lakes

The dog, named Popeye, is sniffing out invasive quagga and zebra mussels on boats in Lake Sonoma and Lake Mendocino.

The invasive mussels reproduce quickly to overtake a waterway and destroy its natural habitats and fisheries. The mussels have caused more than $500 million in damage nationwide.

Popeye is randomly inspecting boats and will be back at work at Lake Mendocino Monday.
