Teen with Down syndrome voted homecoming king

SAN DIEGO, Calif.

Ivan Mendoza was the only name on his high school's homecoming king ballot this year. Everyone in his class knows and adores the popular high school senior, so they've elected him as this year's homecoming king, by a unanimous vote.

"When I see Ivan on campus, he's outgoing, friendly and nice," said classmate Kassey Marcus. "To me, he deserves it."

Mendoza will be crowned at Friday night's homecoming dance. And he plans on dancing with his classmates to celebrate.
