Proposition 30, also known as the governor's tax initiative, would raise the statewide sales tax to prevent billions of dollars in cuts to schools and colleges.
The governor will hold an 11a.m. news conference with the teachers union.
The State superintendent of public Instruction, Tom Torlakson, will attend events in Santa Rosa and San Jose.
