Suspect arrested in burglaries of Nancy Pelosi's home

ST. HELENA, Calif.

The suspect was still being questioned this afternoon during an investigation into break-ins at Pelosi's house on Zinfandel Lane in unincorporated Napa County south of St. Helena at 2:50 p.m. Monday and a second one Tuesday, sheriff's Capt. Tracey Stuart said.

Pelosi was not home during either of the forced entries and deputies are not sure if anything had been stolen, Stuart said.

Someone broke into Pelosi's home Monday by smashing through entrances to the property's main house and the pool house, Stuart said.

Drawers and cupboards were ransacked inside, she said.

The next day, someone entered Pelosi's home again, she said.

Deputies have found no indication that the person responsible for the break-ins, on the day before and day of the 2012 presidential election, knew Pelosi or that they were politically motivated, Stuart said.

Deputies are also looking into whether several other burglaries in the vicinity may have been committed by the same person.
