Americans drink less milk but have more choices

Americans might drink less milk than they did a generation ago, but they face more decisions when they stare at the dairy case in the supermarket.

Whether you choose skim, low-fat, or organic, nutritionists point out milk remains a key source of calcium. They also say you should choose a milk that best suits your dietary needs.

Organic milk claims to be free of synthetic growth hormones, but a study in the Journal of The American Dietetic Association found no significant difference in the hormones found in organic and conventional milk.
