Researchers looked at nearly 60,000 postmenopausal women for 12 years in the largest study of its kind. They found the women who took regular doses of aspirin lowered their risk of getting melanoma by at least 20 percent.
Researchers believe inflammation plays a big role in cancer development and aspirin is an anti-inflammatory drug. But they caution that an aspirin a day won't keep melanoma away.
The study can be found in the journal Cancer.
