Fire damage to Berkeley's Chez Panisse restaurant worse than originally believed

The damage is much more extensive than originally thought. Owner and Chef Alice Waters said the fire damaged both the downstairs and upstairs porches. She says the repair work will be a more significant project since both areas will need to be demolished and rebuilt. Waters was hoping to re-open the restaurant in mid-April but that's unlikely to happen now.
